Meet Magento UK 2018 Recap

Meet Magneto 2018 UK

Let’s go through the journey of the epic Meet Magento UK 2018 event, a wonderful event wherein successful minds in the industry share their expertise on the latest trends and their thoughts on eCommerce industry.

The entire event was for two days wherein on the first day to warm up everyone attending the event, an intensive Magento Contribution hackathon was kept. With many Magento Core Developers and Architects participating in the event.

Among many contributors, few had their first contribution ever to the community.

After the fun-filled and brainstorming contribution day event, it was followed by an exclusive reception for merchants to network with other merchants and discuss hot topics in the industry. Complimented with a panel to enjoy. Among the panel members was Rabia Qureshi (Senior Customer Success Manager at JH).

As Day 2 began, the Keynote speaker Peter Sheldon, VP of Strategy at Magento Commerce, he spoke about eCommerce experiences. What was most impressive about the talk was the fact as to how the Internet of things(IoT) has allowed many shoppable contents across all channels which indirectly has pushed eCommerce even further. He also shared his thoughts on how personalised shopping experience and storytelling can be the key to bring a massive change of what can be sold online to consumers.

Among many topics touched by many well-known speakers during the event one particular topic we enjoyed was by Rob Long’s on “how data can fuel eCommerce growth”, as we know how data science industry has touched every aspect of technology, data can indeed help understand ups and downs of eCommerce and how to further up the growth scale. Rob Long’s panel was indeed an interesting one among many.

Proceeding with the event the second keynote speaker Brian Green had really good insights shared regarding Magento’s platform he talked on Magento’s roadmap priorities and shared many examples on the power of open ecosystem.

Before we go ahead on topics covered by Brian green, we did like to Congratulation Magento on being named as the Leader in Gartner Magic Quadrant for Digital Commerce. Below we see Brian talking on Gartner Magic Quadrant.

A lot of praise was given to the UK community but specifically to the top contributors for all they do to promote and support the community. Kudos goes to them!

During the event, a demo shown by Dave Macaulay showing how quickly one can build a complete custom landing page without using code was seriously amazing. This can be pretty useful while showing it to clients as what they can expect. 🙂

While the event wrapped up after Brian Greens keynote; we believe no Magento event should end without a networking party. Everyone headed off to Voltaire bar to call it a day!.

Finally, a warm thank you to all the sponsors, for organising this event. As years go by Magento Community grows stronger than ever. See you next year Meet Magento UK 2019. #MMUK19
